The Worcester family
The Story
In 1971, Morrill Worcester laid the groundwork for a lasting legacy of family businesses in Downeast Maine. Alongside his wife Karen, they nurtured several ventures, including Worcester Wreath, specializing in Maine balsam Christmas products, and County Concrete & Construction, offering construction services and asphalt and concrete solutions. As their family expanded to include six children, each found their own niche within the companies. In 1992, armed with 5,000 wreaths, Morrill and a group of volunteers made their inaugural visit to Arlington National Cemetery to pay tribute to the fallen military members resting there. This tradition endured for 15 years until a memorable photo, capturing the green boughs with red bows amidst a snow flurry, sparked a wave of patriotic sentiment that led to the creation of Wreaths Across America. As their children matured and began their own families, the values of hard work and love for country instilled by Morrill and Karen inspired the family to continue giving back and embodying the spirit of God and Country.
